The 18th century
Counts and countesses, jesters and musicians, craftsmen and peasants gather at Gammel Estrup Manor for an 18th-century feast, and YOU can join in! Experience the enormous luxury and self-indulgence of the upper class with powdered wigs, tight dresses and whitewashed faces.
Also, meet 18th-century farmers peddling their wares while jesters and musicians fill the courtyard with noise and music.
Taste smoked herring and fire-roasted pancakes, smell the smoke and buy a glass of frothy beer from the innkeeper at "Nilles Kro". Take a walk in the garden and enjoy a cup of coffee in the Orangery. Watch as the count fires the cannon in the Baroque garden, and learn to fence like a true nobleman at the fencing school.
Christmas at the Manor
Experience the genuine manor Christmas at Gammel Estrup Manor.
Join in with the nobles and servants as they prepare for Christmas. See how the count and his staff celebrated Christmas 100 years ago.
Buy Christmas trees and gifts and get a taste of Christmas when the maid prepares pork and bake Christmas goodies as they did in great-grandma's time.
